Skull Island Fauna Scale by GOjiraKaiju3D Skull Island Fauna Scale by GOjiraKaiju3D
Really wanted to do a scale chart of the creatures on Skull Island. Estimation of size is based off of the footage from the trailers. Makes sense why Kong is king of the island since he is the biggest creature.

Yep, those are their official names (even though the spore mantis is more like a giant stick insect).

Yeah, bones. No fossiles. I have a couple of theories of why there are no living dinosaurs in the island:

A) There are living dinos, we just didn´t saw them.
B) The Skull Crawlers drove them extinct.

Log insect is actually called Spore mantis and the buffalo is called Sker buffalo. Bamboo spider is called Mother long legs and the helicopter is a Huey.

Isn´t it an Iriquois? And where´s the Sea Stallion? And why didn´t the Colonel bring a Cobra? That 20mm autocannon would have been pretty useful against the Skull Crawlers (not so much for Kong or the Alpha)!

Because they didn't have them on the ship, and they would've been taken out along with all the other Helicopters in the movie.

You might not be accurate in terms of Kong's size or that of the Giant Skullcrawler. Kong is most likely to be larger. The helicopters that attack him in the trailer are about 60 feet in total length, going off of actual models and size of those planes. My estimation/guess of Kong's size? 175-250 feet, judging by the footage.

The skeletons of the deceased Kong are massive, easily rivaling the size of Godzilla. Then again, it has been rumored that Kong is an adolescent and has yet to reach his peek in size and power. I suppose we'll see.

That's right, the estimation is that in the next KONG movie, with Godzilla, the giant gorilla will be much bigger than Godzilla, I hope it's an epic battle. What's more, the director of the film hit squarely, increasing the size of KONG. I always dreamed that KING KONG was colossal and biped, I want to see KONG one day 10 times bigger than the Empire State Building.

Kong's already been officially stated to be about 100 feet tall.

104 feet to be exact, and he's only a juvenile. Not fully grown to adulthood. He's going to become A LOT larger by the year 2020, which is 40+ years after the events of KONG: SKULL ISLAND.

Kong's an adolescent, not a juvenile. He's basically his species' version of a teenager. He'll grow a good bit bigger, but he'd most likely still fall well short of Godzilla's size.

Regardless, you said Kong's size in this chart, which depicts the creatures as they are in the movie, was inaccurate. The Huey and possibly the buffalo are the only things that seem to be off.

And by adolescent standards, especially among apes and given that he's a male who tend to be vastly larger than female, he still can grow 2-3 times his size before being an adult.

He'll be anywhere from 250-300 by the time he's reached adulthood. And 50-100 feet less taller than Godzilla is not a bad thing or a big deal. He was slightly taller than Kong in 1962. Didn't stop Godzilla from getting physically overpowered at times by the Ape-God, nor having finally come to face one of the few daikaiju that is actually his equal in every physical aspect, while being his superior in terms of intellect & strength.

Kong is a teen, meaning he's well on his way to being full grown, but does have some growing to do. However, your estimate of 250-300 feet tall is pure speculation, since adult gorillas are not twice the height of adolescent gorillas, and also because you're trying to compare real life animals to Kong.

Godzilla, when he previously fought Kong, was only 50m tall, a far cry from Legendary's 100m tall version. The disparity in size that should still exist even when Kong is fully grown may be too much. Even if Kong does double his height by the time the movie occurs, Godzilla would be around 50% taller, and far stronger and more massive. Size and power aren't everything, but when your opponent's attacks don't deal enough damage to you, there's not much to worry about.

As for intelligence, that remains to be seen. Maybe Kong was more intelligent in the old movie, but that was a very different style of Godzilla and King Kong, which tended to emphasize camp.

As it stands right now, I don't see how a big ape is going to be able to present a credible threat to an even bigger, radiation spewing lizard. I guess we'll have to wait to find out.

hate to be a part pooper, but it has been confirmed that this new Kong will be nearly be as big as Godzilla.
He's younger, but still growing. As the movie already said. He's not even close to his adult size.

Believe what you want. For Kong is more than just a mere giant Ape. He's a King and a God. A member of a dominant Apex/Alpha Predators, not unlike Godzilla and his species.

200, 250, 300 feet. It won't make a difference, because Kong will still be physically stronger or at the very least equal to Godzilla in strength/power.

Height doesn't make a difference. The T-rex in the original 1933 KING KONG was slightly taller. Didn't save it from getting thrown around or having it's jaws snapped. And likewise, Godzilla was slightly taller than Kong in 1962's KING KONG vs. GODZILLA, but it didn't stop Kong from overpowering him physically through their altercation.

Both titans can dish out terrible damage, that's for certain. And the most likely outcome will be a stalemate. I don't see either being superior, but rather equals in overall might. Unbiased and no favoritism. As it should be with all fans who love both monster Kings/Gods.

I totally agree. I do think he should stand eye to eye with Godzilla, otherwise it'd just look stupid. I do think Kong would win too, but let's hope this new Kong as an adult is way more durable and stronger. I want Kong to brush off hits from the atomic breath too, like he did in 1962.

Not to be picky, but that helicopter silhouette isn't an Apache. it's a Bell UH-1 Iroquois.
